Derek Atwood - RE/MAX Southern Shores

Hey there! I was born and raised in Raleigh/Wake County, North Carolina, where I grew up in a Christian home, actively engaged in sports, church, and school activities. I earned my undergraduate degree from East Carolina University and later returned to ECU to complete my MBA. My professional journey began at a wholesale produce company before I joined Lowe’s Companies in Wilkesboro, NC, as an Inventory Replenishment Specialist. At Lowe’s, I advanced to an Inventory Manager role and held various positions in supply chain, logistics, and inventory management at the corporate offices in Mooresville, NC. During my tenure, I continued to develop and enhance my business and life skills, including communication, organization and teamwork.

After retiring from Lowe’s, and being blessed to enjoy more family time, travel, and hobbies, I have embraced a new career in real estate. I am excited to be able to leverage my prior experiences and core values like learning, helping, and relationship building. I have lived in North Myrtle Beach for three years, however I have cherished memories of the area from visiting throughout my life, especially for family gatherings and golf outings. I enjoy outdoor hobbies such as fishing, pickleball, and golf, as well as live music and spending time with friends. Family is a central part of my life, and I cherish my relationships with my parents, sister, brother-in-law, niece, and nephew.
